Stuck in a long line at the airport while waiting to get through security? Airlines for America wants you to tweet that.
The airline industry association has launched a new website and hashtag campaign to put pressure on the Transportation Security Administration to make changes to reduce wait times at airport security checkpoints. A4A is encouraging travelers to head to iHateTheWait.com and use the hashtag #iHateTheWait to post pictures of themselves stuck in line on Twitter and Instagram.
The campaign is "raising awareness of the issue and serving as crowd-sourced (wait-time) information," A4A spokesman Jean Medina told the Associated Press.
Lines during peak times at airports have topped 90 minutes, the news service reported. As a result, airlines are telling customers to arrive two hours before their flights are scheduled to depart.
Both TSA and the airline industry are encouraging travelers to enroll in the agency's expedited screening program called PreCheck to avoid long times. http://bit.ly/1TCgh6F
